In Nunavik, Saqijuq On-the-Land Activities are transforming lives by reconnecting participants with Inuit culture and traditions. Offered in Puvirnituq, Akulivik, Inukjuak, Kangirsuk, Kuujjuaq, Kangiqsujuaq, and Kangiqsualujjuaq, these prevention programs provide Inuit with opportunities to build self-esteem, meet role models, develop new coping skills and reconnect with their community.

Activities Rooted in Tradition

Participants engage in hunting, fishing, sewing, beading, berry picking, feasts, qamutik making, dog sledding, and more. These activities honor core Inuit values—sharing, respect, and equality—while fostering a sense of pride and community.

A Calming Connection to Nature

Spending time on the land helps participants refocus, reflect, and find calm. Educators, acting as role models, share their knowledge and skills, inspiring resilience and cultural pride.

On-the-Land Activities are empowering Nunavimmiut to embrace their heritage and build stronger communities for the future.
