Status: Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week, flexible
Specificity: Summer schedule with Friday afternoons off

Salary: Between $50,467 to $ 73,432 (based on experience)
Maximum salary upon hiring of $65,777, according to experience and education

Saqijuq is looking for an Educator to offer and lead cultural and traditional activities, such as cooking, sewing and beading. As an On-The-Land (OTL) Educator, you promote healthy ways of living and proudly represent Saqijuq within the communities. You share traditional knowledge throughout various cultural activities. You assist referrals coming from the court with compassion and guide people in need to the appropriate resources.
Responsibilities:
- Organize and host cultural and traditional activities that bring generations, families, and communities together.
- Participate and lead different type of activities within the community and on the land.
- Identify and gather the necessary supplies, crafting, equipment and material for the activities.
- Present the security measures and, make sure they are understood, and respected.
- Share information and promote the different resources and services available in the communities.
- Assist and refer people in need to the appropriate resources.
- Raise awareness and educate on values and traditional roles.
- Promote healthy ways of living and act as a Saqijuq representative within the communities.
- Follow the necessary trainings to develop and improve the required competencies for the job function.
- Perform any other tasks related to the OTL program.
Requirements:
Work Experience
– Excellent knowledge of the Inuit culture and good knowledge of the land.
– Significant knowledge of traditional and cultural ways of teaching.
– Awareness of the justice system and its operations, an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
– Practical knowledge of the MS Office suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), an asset.
– Good manual skills for traditional activities such as sewing, beading, tupik making, cooking, throat singing, etc.
– Diplomatic sense, flexibility, and perseverance.
– Tolerance for ambiguity and change
Languages
– Fluency in Inuktitut.
– Good communication and writing skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages used in Nunavik (English, Inuktitut, French).
