On-The-Land Director
Location: Nunavik

Status: Full-time position, Monday to Friday, 35 hours a week, flexible
Specificity: Summer schedule with Friday afternoons off

Salary: Between $91,698 and $137,593 (based on experience)
Maximum salary at the time of hiring is $123,471, based on work experience and education

As an On-The-Land (OTL) Director, you actively participate in the promotion and deployment of Saqijuq’s OTL program’s mission. Your leadership will allow you to mobilize and encourage your team to collaborate in the sharing of traditional knowledge and in the achievement of the program’s objectives.
Responsibilities:
Management
- Manage and hire the OTL team composition and development in accordance with the high management vision and objectives.
- In collaboration with the Assistant Executive Director and the Human Resources department, identify staffing needs and participate in the recruitment process for the OTL Coordinators and the OTL Educators positions, including conducting interviews and coordinating the candidate selection.
- Ensure the effective onboarding of new employees by presenting and explaining Saqijuq’s policies, procedures, and expectations.
- Identify the team training needs and coordinate the training sessions.
- Evaluate the performance of the team members.
- In collaboration with the Human Resources department and the management team, ensure follow-up on disciplinary measures, and document all relevant information in the concerned employee’s file.
- Attend and participate to Saqijuq’s management and coordination meetings.
- Organize and animate OTL coordination team meetings with the OTL Coordinators and OTL Educators.
- Revise and approve the employee’s activity report and time sheet.
- Collect and follow-up on OTL statistics.
- Manage the invoices and the expenses associated to the OTL activities.
- Maintain and update records of Saqijuq’s clients list, employee’s registry, client’s testimonies, partners contact list, and all other documents required: contact our clients to ensure we have the accurate contact information.
- Evaluate the quality of the services offer in each community to ensure the program meets the organization standards and community needs.
Community involvement
- Plan, create and participate in cultural activities within the community: approve activities, when required.
- Coordinate and hold activities and workshops with various partners.
- Participate in the creation of the activity calendar in collaboration with the OTL Coordinator and the OTL Educators.
- Identify potential office spaces and workshops to accommodate Saqijuq activities.
- Ensure follow up on references with the court system, community members and other organizations.
- Collaborate with various organizations and represent Saqijuq in different committees.
- Travel to other communities, when needed.
- Perform any other tasks related to the OTL program.
Qualifications:
Education
– High School Diploma.
– Training in project management and/or administration, an asset.
Work Experience
– 2 years of experience in management.
– Excellent knowledge of traditional and cultural ways of teaching.
– Excellent knowledge of the Inuit culture and good knowledge of the land.
– Knowledge of the justice system, healing, grieving and psychosocial issues, an asset.
Knowledge and Skills
– Practical knowledge of the MS Office suite (Teams, Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
– Diplomatic sense, flexibility, and perseverance.
– Tolerance for ambiguity and change.
Languages
– Good communication and writing skills in Inuktitut and English, mandatory.
– Knowledge of French, an asset.
