FAQ
On-the-Land Activities are open to everyone in the communities we serve who wish to reconnect with the land and Inuit culture through traditional and cultural practices. Whether you’re a woman, man, elder, family, or couple, you’re warmly welcomed.
Anyone physically and mentally prepared to go out on the land is encouraged to join. We also accept referrals from the court system, whether as part of probation conditions or for completing community hours.
Our activities are a safe and inclusive space for all—come share in the experience, learn, and reconnect!
Saqijuq offers a variety of activities tailored to the season, weather, and the interests of participants. These may include hunting, fishing, berry picking, sewing, beading, feasts, camping, and so much more. Participants are encouraged to share their preferences with educators, and if they wish to learn a new skill, our team is happy to guide them.
In addition to seasonal and cultural activities, Saqijuq offers workshops on substance use and is actively developing new cultural healing workshops to further support the community.
Participation in Saqijuq is entirely voluntary, allowing individuals to join planned activities as they choose. There are no limits on how often or how long someone can participate—everyone in the community is welcome to take part as much as they need.
The program is flexible, inclusive, and designed to meet the unique needs of all participants.
